WWII German Canteen

Description

This is an authentic WWII German military canteen (Feldflasche), as issued to German soldiers during the Second World War. The canteen formed part of a soldier’s standard field equipment and was used to carry drinking water while on the march and in the field.

These examples are made of aluminum and retain their screw caps as well as leather carrying straps with buckles and fastening hardware. The surviving leather components make these canteens particularly attractive and complete display pieces.

German Feldflaschen were manufactured by numerous companies throughout the pre-war and wartime period. Examples can therefore show different manufacturer codes, production years and small construction variations. Many were stamped with a manufacturer code and year of production.

Each canteen shows genuine age-related wear and use, such as scratches, dents, discoloration, oxidation and wear to the leather. Every example is unique, so the exact condition, markings, manufacturer and appearance of the canteen received may vary from the photographs.
