Original WWII German SA Sports Badge in Bronze

Description

This is an authentic WWII German SA Sports Badge in Bronze (SA-Sportabzeichen in Bronze), an award introduced in 1933 to promote physical fitness, endurance, and military preparedness. Participants were required to complete a demanding series of athletic tests including running, swimming, jumping, climbing, throwing, and endurance exercises. Although originally intended for members of the SA (Sturmabteilung), the badge was later also awarded to civilians and members of other organizations who successfully met the required standards.

This example retains excellent detail with an attractive natural bronze patina, reflecting its wartime age and originality. The reverse is clearly maker-marked “Berg & Nolte, Lüdenscheid”, a respected German manufacturer of military awards and insignia during the Third Reich.
