Description

This authentic World War II German Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) half dog tag (Erkennungsmarke) is an original historical relic, recovered from a World War II site in Europe. The tag is made of zinc, the standard material used during the later war years, and remains in good, clearly readable condition considering its age.

German dog tags were designed to be broken in half, with each half carrying identical identification information. One half was removed for administrative purposes if a soldier was killed, while the other half remained with the body. As a result, single half dog tags are historically correct and commonly encountered battlefield relics.
