Description
This is an original WWII-era German Wehrmacht porcelain plate, dated 1939. The reverse is clearly marked with the German national eagle clutching a swastika, confirming official Wehrmacht issue. Beneath the date, the plate bears the factory mark “Rhenania – Duisdorf-Bonn”, a known German porcelain manufacturer that produced tableware for the armed forces during the Third Reich period. The plate is made of white glazed porcelain and follows the standard utilitarian design used in Wehrmacht canteens and mess facilities. Such plates were part of everyday military life and were produced for regular service use rather than display, making surviving examples with clear markings increasingly desirable to collectors.
This example shows honest age-related wear consistent with wartime use and decades of storage. The markings remain clear and legible, and the plate presents well overall. A genuine period item that offers a tangible connection to the daily life of German soldiers during the Second World War. An excellent collectible for WWII German militaria collectors, Wehrmacht enthusiasts, or those interested in historical military porcelain.
