WWII Kriegsmarine Porcelain Dinner Plate – 1941

Description

This is an authentic WWII German Kriegsmarine porcelain dinner plate, produced in 1941 by the German porcelain manufacturer Jäger Eisenberg. The underside bears the characteristic Kriegsmarine property marking, consisting of the German naval eagle and swastika above a large “M”, together with the production year and manufacturer’s mark.

Porcelain tableware like this was used by personnel of the German Kriegsmarine during the Second World War in naval barracks, mess halls, shore establishments and other Kriegsmarine facilities. While simple and functional in appearance, these pieces formed part of the everyday equipment used by German naval personnel throughout the war.

This example remains complete and retains its clean white glazed porcelain finish. The underside markings show genuine age-related fading and wear, but the Kriegsmarine eagle, “M”, 1941 production date and Jäger Eisenberg manufacturer’s mark remain identifiable. This natural wear gives the plate an attractive period appearance and reflects its more than 80 years of history.

Original Kriegsmarine-marked porcelain is generally encountered less frequently than comparable Wehrmacht tableware, making surviving examples particularly interesting to collectors of German naval militaria.
