Description
This authentic Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter (Mother’s Cross) in Bronze was instituted on 16 December 1938 and awarded to German mothers who bore and raised multiple children in recognition of their contribution to the nation. The bronze class (3rd class) was awarded to mothers with four to five children. The cross features a blue and white enamel finish with a central medallion bearing the inscription “Der Deutschen Mutter.”. The Mother’s Cross remains one of the most recognizable civilian awards of the period and is a historically significant collectible.
The reverse is dated 16. Dezember 1938 and bears the facsimile signature of Adolf Hitler, as originally designed and issued with this award. This example retains strong enamel with clear details and a natural age patina to the reverse. The original suspension loop is present; however, the ribbon is not included.
